So I saw this story online about a woman getting 13.5K for unfair dismissal for selling alcohol to a minor, i think she should have gotten nothing, she was in the job 12 years so should know better,

now of days there is no accountability it's always someone elses fault you fúcked up, pisses me off

    http://www.independent.ie/irish-news/courts/dunnes-worker-fired-for-selling-alcohol-to-a-minor-awarded-135k-for-unfair-dismissal-30548989.html

She worked for them for 12 years and had a clean disciplinary record. I'd be out for blood if I was that woman.

Deserved to be fired over one mistake? This isn't open heart surgery. She worked on the till in Dunnes Stores ffs. Moreover Dunnes appear to have not followed correct procedure when dismissing her.

Tbh, they probably wanted a lifer like her out so they could hire a teenager on minimum wage.

    This.

It seems from the details that they didn't follow procedures, and that the response was disproportionate considering circumstances.

She got the award because no appeals process was in place nor was the disciplinary action proportional to the case and her unblemished 12 years of service. I don't subscribe to the compensation culture but in this case she was in the right.

Swift boot up the arse out the door and not a penny for her antics under my law. A real good sign of a person is when they admit they ****up, you'll get a long way in life being straight up.

I think anybody saying that after 12 years with no issues she deserved to be fired for 1 mistake is taking the piss just to be awkward.

one thing i noticed that , accepting they are a big employer , but a huge number of these reported cases appear to be dunnes stores.
The must have a ruthless culture

Generally treat their staff like dirt from what I've heard. The fact they didn't even have an appeals process in place probably says it all.
