I recently bought an item on Ebay. The seller is located in the UK according to their profile.
The item was shipping immediately on August 20th. It hasn't arrived yet so I sent a message to the seller.
I got a message back saying that international deliveries can take upto 4 weeks due to customs.
I argued that surely UK to Ireland is not international but they insist it is.
I now suspect that the item is actually coming from the far east which had I known I wwould not have bought from them.
Anyway. My question is am I wrong, is UK to Ireland considered international? Is there customs involvement?
It is not a big or heavy item (clothing) and if I posted it from here to the UK I guess it would cost less than a fiver.

Yes, it is international. When I checked that last time UK and Ireland were definately different countries.

Although no customs involved as both countries are within EU.

But check seller's location and feedback - maybe they send from China?

    in·ter·na·tion·al (ntr-nsh-nl, -nshnl)
    adj. Abbr. int. or intl.
    1. Of, relating to, or involving two or more nations: an international commission; international affairs.
    2. Extending across or transcending national boundaries: international fame.

So since UK and Ireland are different nations, I'd say it's international

Post a link to the auction and people can check it out and give tips for the future -i.e. what to look out for in other autions.

International Economy is the affordable answer to posting overseas when you’re not in a rush. It’s easy to use and ideal for heavier items. Compensation is included and we aim to deliver your mail to:
Western Europe in up to 2 weeks
Eastern Europe in up to 5 weeks
North America in up to 6 weeks
South America, Africa and Asia in up to 8 weeks
Australia in up to 12 weeks

If the seller using international economy they are leaving themselves open to abuse. With no tracking it is easy for the buyer to say that they didnt receive it and paypal would side with the buyer.

Ask the seller for a tracking number. If it is coming from the UK it should be here by now.

No customs between UK and Ireland. You have to put a security sticker on it, declaring what it is for safety reasons but deliveries between UK and Ireland usually only take 2-3 days and would never take more than a week. I would guess that this item is coming from asia e.g. china, hong kong, taiwan, etc.

I find that normally items from ebay take 7 days to arrive from when they are posted. I have found recently that sellers mark items as dispatched almost immediately and when I have checked the post mark it hadn't been posted for a few days later.

I would maybe wait until tomorrows post and they start a claim with paypal.
