    Hi

In the past I've had ok ish bikes, but as usual they got stolen abd to be honest I'm just sick of it. Does not matter what lock you use on them, multiple locks etc, the scum will still steal them

So I bought a piece of ****e in halfords and been cycling it for a few weeks - tis grand, does the trick.

Whatever in The Lord happened the other night. I can't even cycle it now, the back wheel is just rubbing off the frame. I rotated the wheel to see if its warped, but it does not seem to be.

Is there any cheap place in Dublin that would fix this without charging much - just some rough and ready kind of a spot.

might be worth taking it back to halfords and showing them. tell them how unhappy you are about it they might sort you out

Sounds like it's dished. The rim has evenly offset to one side and that's why you see no warp. If so then wheel spokes were not tensioned right. Should bring it back if I only a few weeks old.

Thanks for replies. Do you thinka totally new wheel would fix this ?
Or is it maybe the frame of the bike ?

if you have a quick release wheel on the back try loosening the release and squaring up the the wheel in the frame again. then tighten it up good and proper.

Na, it's not a quick release.

New bike needed. Don't buy it in Halfords and don't leave it outside.

If you've only had it a few weeks and there was no obvious incident where damage is possible/likely, if it's gone out of true so quickly I would certainly take it back. You have an expectation the biuke is fit for purpose, and certainl;y that it would last more than a few weeks, and they should repair or replace the wheel (or indeed bike) if it's shown not to be fit for purpose

has the wheel shifted in the dropouts, possibly? i.e. is the problem with the hub being aligned properly, rather than with the rim?

    I'm not sure.

I can actually physically kick the wheel gently at bottom and it moves in and is not rubbing, I can wheel the bike ing and no rubbing b

However when I then get to actually go on the bike and add my weight to bike and pedal the rubbing starts a few seconds after this.
