    Hi,

We are planning our wedding with our immediate families at an exclusive location in Cork. There will be 17 adults and 3 kids (5-13yrs nieces from the same family).

We will have the civil ceremony at 3pm, photos and cocktails 4-6 and dinner 6-8ish.

We are at a loss about what to do after this. Neither of us are into dancing and with a small group that would be awkward anyway.

Anyone been to a small wedding or has ideas for something to do after 8pm?

Just afraid that it would just all fall dead at this point and people would be bored.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks.

The only small wedding (about 20) I've been to just had the meal which took quite a while, but that was it.

I agree the dancing will seem a little forced with a group that size. How about a magician to amuse the kids and tolerable for the adults?

Maybe there is no need for official entertainment for the adults anyway. You could all gather on some comfy sofas with and just chat and socialise. Maybe play a board game, make a jigsaw or look through old family photos something daft like that,
Maybe this sounds totally naff but I'd enjoy an evening like that especially with close family.

If you had a long dinner with lots of small courses you might not need outside entertainment.

Sounds like the size of group that would be similar to a small work party.

There is a great grown-up illusionist is cork who does mingling and entertainment at work parties. He does tricks for small groups like making a goldfish appear in a glass of water that someone is drinking, or folding 20 euro notes and unfolding it into a fiver. Low key, but great fun. Let me know if you want his name and I'm pm his contact details.

Also maybe some relaxed type of background music? A pianist or something?

There is also the option of something like group cocktail mixing if people would be interested.

Ding we are on the same level as ye well with a little more people and we do like music. But I am forever trying to think of entertainment. If you have an outdoor are you could set up some outdoor games that would suit both adults and kids, tennis, badminton, swingball, lawn darts.. If ye were all kids you could get a laser tag set that would be fun.

If you wanted to keep kids entertained for a while you could set up a movie station for them with some popcorn a projector.. That you can also hook the wii up to it so ye could do challenge games or some karoke if ye like to sing.. Photo booths too is something to keep people engaged.

After that you have hired entertainment a magician, caricature artist, comedian or you could have a theme and hire in a place to do a casino night or movie stars night... endless possibilities

Hi I'd second the magican, caricaturist, casino etc - have been to weddings where these have been put on and they're fab
I know you say no dancing but would you consider someone for background music - someone with a guitar/piano for example - it'd avoid any quiet spells
For the nieces - would you consider one of those entertainers that cater for kids parties - they could do make up / hair braiding etc. also get a loom band set - it'll keep keep them going for hours :-)
I do like the idea do board games as well - old fashioned ones can get mighty competitive with the older crowd
