Laptop can't connect via WiFi only Ethernet

Fixing a mates laptop, thing was riddled with a trojan, couple of virus, a few hundred things picked up by Super AntiSpyware, good few registery issues found by JRT and AdwCleaner. All that was cleaned up but since then the internet isn't able to connect via Wifi only via ethernet cable. WiFi is showing up in Network Connections and is saying connected. Tried IE, FireFox and Chrome.

Also having an issue with installing Malware Bytes, getting loads of "Internal Error Expression Error Runtime Error".

Any suggestions?

Not sure if this command works with Win8 but does with Win7 and XP - at the command prompt type 'netsh winsock reset catalog', hit enter and reboot as prompted.

As for the malware bytes issue, it sounds like the runtime environment has been corrupted. Depending on what malware bytes requires, you may need to reinstall the Visual Basic runtime environment or reinstall Java. Tbh, a complete wipe and reinstall of Windows sounds like a good idea

Cheers man, loads of Windows Updates to be done so installing them now, have a feeling that may sort the Wifi issues and possibly the Malware Bytes one. I'll keep posted.

Why don't you copy all important stuff and format hard drive and then install everything from scratch?
