Hi Everybody, I,m interested in taking part in the Nicholas Roche Sportive on the 4th October 2014 but im relatively new to doing these cycles although I have been cycling for years although never competively so I have 2 questions for all you cycling experts and clever people out there and they are as follows...

    1. Do I need a cycling licence to be allowed take part in this type of cycle/leisure sportive as I don't have one at present or can you just register online pay the 30.00 fee and just turn up on the day and take part in it or will I be refused and not be allowed to take part.??

    2. I normally cycle 60-70kms on my own usually once a week over the last year anyway and would like to get out a bit more but cant due to time restrictions work etc so im pretty fit for a 45 year old guy though im wondering would the 90km cycle be the better option for me rather than only doing the 50km coz I could defo do that no probs but im just wondering if the 90km might be too long for me as I don't wont to half kill myself either so which might be my best option that's of course if im allowed to take part in the first place??
    Thanks guys...

You can just turn up on the day, they'll give you a day licence.

Definitely do the 90km, it'll be fine if you stay in a group and adrenaline will get you over the line.

Cheers Darkglasses for your help, yes I think I will defo sign up for 90km coz its a bit more of a challenge and I think I will be able for it too hopefully coz the 50km cycle would probably be over a bit too soon and from what I,ve read about it seems to be a great day out...Is there an extra fee for a day licence I presume or do you know how much it costs or is that included in the 30.00 online registration fee??
Thanks again for your help,i appreciate it....Cheers

It'll be included. Some sportives give you a discount if you have a license already but if they don't there's no extra charge.
