Can anyone try and point me in the right direction here?

Have a 2001 1.4 petrol bora that recently got a new clutch put into it. Noticed its very heavy on petrol so I said I'd test it and find out just how much its using. Brimmed it let it go down checked the odometer and then brimmed against o work out how much fuel I used.

Came back as using 1L per 8km!

Don't know what could be causing this has anyone any known areas to check for problems like this

Can you post up the raw data? So how many kilometres versus how many litres? Also the nature of the driving? Any possibility of a fuel tank / fuel line leak? Because there is no way thats right. Even the Veyron will do 0.2L/km.

Being a 2001 car, wouldn't that be 8 miles (as opposed to km) a litre? 8 miles per litre is over 36 mpg, which sounds alright to me, it's got a very underpowered engine so it's never going to win any awards for fuel consumption. On the other hand if it really is 8 km/l that's 22.6 mpg, unless it's all town driving there's something wrong, even if it is all town driving that seems a bit low.

    When was it last serviced?

    Its 8km/l or like 5m/l

I haven't got the car long haven't gotten a chance go get it serviced yet but it'll be done during the week. Could that be the biggest issue is that it might not of been serviced in a while?

I'd say there's likely a more pressing issue.
Unless you are doing all of your driving around town in solely 1st gear!

Also, why don't you measure consumption in MPG (or at least l/100km), no-one uses km/l as a measurement, it just adds to the complexity. I suggest you brim the tank again and drive some normal extra-urban driving (motorway/DC driving) and see what the MPG is. If it's still low then you know you've got a serious overfuelling issue.

    Edited to add:
I left a car of mine go over its service interval by 3k miles, after servicing I noticed an increase of approx 5 MPG (33%).
