How long does the 747 take to get from Heuston to the airport? It's €6 per person and there is two of us so would it just be as easy/as cheap to get a taxi or is the route via bus quick enough? I will be travelling approx midday on Monday.

Last time I did the reverse journey it got into Busaras quickly enough but then it took the guts of forty five minutes to go meandering around Dame Street until I missed my train connection. Have never gone to or from Heuston on it since. Take the tram to Busaras and pick it up from there.

Taxi would be quicker but about twice the price, perhaps a little bit more.

The 747 now goes on a long and winding route compared to previously (but still is limited stop) and would take around 60 minutes

Good lord thats a circuitous route. Should be Heuston - O'Connell Street South (quays) - O2 - Dublin Airport, none of this going south of the river.

It used to be that, and it was a good and useful route then.

I got the Luas out to the point and then picked up the 747 at the point stop.

Got lucky and one arrived just as we got to the bus stop.

Wise choice. The 747 zips up to the airport from there.

Aircoach stops there as well for the same price and same route to the airport so just take whichever comes first.

Taxi much quicker, price approx. 20-22 euro
Should get to airport in less than 30 mins

That was the 748 no? This route has to take in O'Connell St and Busaras that the old 747 did. The 'new' 747 takes in both routes.

I don't know about you, but I get a severe pain in my bollix dealing with taxi drivers. Only use them if I really, really have to.

I'm sure they would probably say the same of many a customer.

As others have poined out, the LUAS to the Point/O2 followed by the 747 thru the Port tunnel is by far the most efficient way to the airport

It changed during the recession when numbers using the 747/748 dropped significantly.

Perhaps when things improve sufficiently the 748 can be reinstated and the 747 curtailed to O'Connell Street again.

The routing maximises the hotels that are served, and given this is a commercial service, this is rather a pre-requisite.
