Does anyone have European breakdown cover on their classic policy? Would they bring your car home for you if it calved in a big way on the continent?

Usually there is a clause in these policies somewhere which says vehicle repatriation will only take place if it costs less than the market value of vehicle (or have a cap to a similar level). This will apply to any vehicle, be it new, old or classic.

So either make sure it doesn't "calved in a big way" on the continent or take a vehicle worth a lot of lolly.

I have European breakdown cover on my Axa classic car policy. It includes recovery home to Ireland if the car is not repairable abroad.

I'm fully comp with Axa and have European breakdown cover which will get the car home, not sure about the driver!

As always with insurance, read the small print.

Here's the AXA T&C's (http://www.axa.ie/download/axa-insurance-downloads/) from their classic car policy booklet (my highlighting):

    6.Vehicle repatriation
If your car cannot be repaired in Europe, or by the time you have to get home, we will arrange and pay for it to be taken to the nearest repairer to your home. You must give us a list of any items that are left in, or on, the insured vehicle. We will not be responsible for the loss of, or damage to, any items which are not on this list. We will only do this if we believe the cost of doing so would be less than the market value in Ireland.

I took out specific AA 5 * cover including a supplement for an older car, when I took my classic on an EU trip.
