I was just browsing the CAO's website and it says that I am able to apply for 2014 Available/Vacant Place Application? .. Does this mean I have a chance to apply and still get a course even if I never applied for CAO before? confused..

Yes, if you've done your LC this year and haven't applied for the CAO you can apply now. If you are applying for one of the courses on the available places list you must meet the requirements of that course. E.g. a pass in English or Irish, pass your maths etc.
