Hi folks, am I remembering correctly that theres a hidden urbex forum on here? I'm looking for a few potential locations for upcoming photoshoots and thought this might be helpful if its still here. Does anyone know how this can be accessed?

You must successfully complete three trials - courage, strenght & wisdom. Each one more dastardly than the next. Once you have completed your three tasks, a message to the urbex forum mod (he/she will be by in a minute, no doubt) may gain you access...

    Yeah it's pretty tough...

No one will be received unless they have a poetical genius.

They should be a perfect master of their cameras, and able to take pictures in all circumstances. To prove their dexterity they will be placed in a plain field, encompassed with green sedge, that reaches above their knees; Nine experienced photographers will be appointed to stand at the distance of nine ridges of land from him, and to take shots all at once; if the applicant is not captured in a single photograph they will be admitted into the forum; but if they happened to be captured in a single shot their application will be rejected

They should be a good runner, and in their flight should be able to take shots on the run, They will be obliged to run through a wood, and all the other photographers sent in pursuit, and the applicant only the start of the breadth of a tree; if the applicant is photographed or is overtaken their application was rejected.

They should have a strong arm and hold their cameras steady; if their hands shake, they will be rejected.

They should be so light of foot as not to break a rotten stick by standing on it.

They should be able to leap over a tree as high as their forehead.

I don't think you need all that if you push the HDR slider to the max instead.

Can I have "permission to read this forum" too?

I don't do much (read: any) urbex but I'm always on the lookout for interesting shoot locations.

TBH I'm not keen on disclosing urbex locations to non urbexers - especially those interested in having "shoots" in these locations.

Discretion is the order of the day and the last thing the urbex community wants is queues of photographers, models, MUA's, lights, reflectors stands etc drawing attention to themselves and the locations.

IIRC there was instances of photographers with smoke machines along with all the above mentioned kit who drew a bit of unwanted attention to a certain well known Dublin location.

I have no problem with photographers having an interest in these locations and wanting to shoot them. However, looking to use the venues as shoot locations is something else.

Well, I think I'm smart enough to exercise some discretion, and I don't plan on breaking into abandoned buildings or asking models to join me in trespassing, but whatever. Carry on.

I have a particular set of skills and use of HDR that draws me to urbex. Can I be added? I can link peeps to some of my own photos as proof of my skills or at least my interest.

Well that warrants a lifetime ban anyway........

I think that there are HA* meetings now. They have a 12 step, rather than a 12 exposure, plan. ;)

I'm intrigued; are these photography related skills or are they skills that might facilitate exploring? :D

Intrigued you should be! Exploring; I sometimes get access to places that others would not normally get access. There you have it now.

Mainly old industrial sites that is. I take lots of photos during surveys and site visits. None of which I'll post publicly. I'll send on a a PM link to a trip I made to Cockatoo Island in March.

Hi, I love exploring abandoned places and I am in Cork city. Would love to meet people who would do urbex with me. Anyone in Cork to join me?

Myself and a friend would probably be into that alright, main aim would be to photograph it as well though.
