Car jumping out of gear - VW Bora

2005 Bora TDI 110, 148k miles - noticed twice a few evenings ago that it seemed to pop out of 4th gear at about 60kph with the gear stick still engaged in 4th, light grinding noise and revs increased. Managed get it back into neutral and come to a stop, then carry on for another half hour driving as normal to get home…

Managed get it back into neutral and come to a stop, then carry on for another half hour driving as normal to get home without a hitch.

Seems to be performing normally since but obviously something is developing. Any thoughts what it might be? Thanks
