Looking to book a car for a week in September from malaga airport. I am getting very cheap quotes (€50-€70 for 7 days from companies I am not familair with) - there must be a catch? will they fleece me on insurance, fuel, 2nd driver? any recommedation for an all-in-one pre-pay price. I don't mind paying €100-150 as long as everything is inclusive.

    Thanks

I hired with Hispacar in Malaga airport and had no issues, a nice bunch of people actually.

I had a bad experience a few weeks ago with a company I haven't used before. I was using a booking engine so I didn't choose the company I ended up hiring from. Everything went OK with the rental, but at 2006, the car was old. I'm used to this as I always hire an auto and hire companies keep these much longer than manuals.

The problem arose when I got home. The hirer took a €400 deposit when I picked the car up and said it would be returned when I returned the car. Long story short: I ended up making a charge-back to my credit card a month later to recover this deposit.

The company was 1rentacar.com. I can't recall the name of the booking engine I used.

Of course it's very cheap; high season has just ended but they wi still have the full stock f cars. Use one of the main agents onsite - access directly from baggage hall - to minimise hassle. Use the opportunity to book a better car.

The catch is very simple. Most of the companies hiring from Malaga go with full tank on collection, return empty. They charge way over the odds for the fuel. On a short term rental you'll never empty the tank so they make a killing.

I've used Cargest a few times, return car with same fuel as collected. Cars aren't brand new but fine.

I've used Helle Hollis at Malaga airport in the past, found them very reliable & easy to deal with

What is included in the rental price?

The rental price includes unlimited mileage, collision damage waiver (with excess), third party, theft, personal accident insurance with medical care, and VAT.

What is not included in the rental price?

The insurance excess and fuel are not included in the rental price.

I only ever use avis when I rent in Spain. Prices are good and you don't have to worry about some mickey mouse rental company ripping you off.
