    Hi.
What's the best way to get from CDG airport to the 16th arrondissement in Paris. I'll have luggage so the less metro/stairs the better.
This will be my first time trying to make my way around Paris, so any advice is great!

    Thanks!

**I'm at the end of the 16th near the Bois de Boulogne park. Yer answers are great ...thanks so much!!:)

There's the "Roissy Bus", a dedicated airport bus direct from CDG to Opéra. At Opéra, many Métro lines intersect so possibly one of those might take you where you want. I've never taken the Roissy Bus — I'm just assuming that as it's an airport bus it might be easy to use.

Alternatively, you can use the RER train line, and then change to a Métro line as necessary (but I don't know exactly where you're going — the 16th is quite large).

You could try the RATP's journey planner here: http://www.ratp.fr/en/ (RATP is the transport authority for Paris, sort of like TfL is for London). You can even input the precise address you're going to — it's quite good.

There might even be a bus from an RER station or from Opéra going to where you want — choose the necessary options in RATP's journey planner. Note: buses aren't that plentiful because most people use the Métro.

Can you do a little better than an arrondissement number? Have you checked your hotel website to get the name of the local metro station?

RER Line B connects CDG to downtown Paris, you should be able to get to almost anywhere in the city either direct or with one change ...

I find the public transport in Paris great (at least compared to Dublin!) and it's really easy to get around.

There are two RER stations in CDG. If you're travelling with Aer Lingus you land in terminal 1, and you need to take a shuttle train two stops to The station Charles de Gaulle 1. If you're with Air France you'll land in terminal 2E and it's about a five minute walk to the station Charles de Gaulle 2.

All trains from both stations go to Paris, although sometimes there are express trains, which go directly to Gare du Nord, without stopping at any stations in between. I've taken both express and non express trains and really the difference in time is minimal, the express trains maybe being at most five minutes quicker.
Anyway, the trains cannot overtake each other, so the next train will always be the fastest.

Once you get on the RER at the airport, the rest really depends on where you want to go in the 16th arrondissement, but you would probably be transferring at Gare du Nord, Châtelet-Les Halles or Saint Michel, to whatever metro/RER line you need. If you tell me what station you'll be travelling to I can suggest a line for you to take?

Cost wise, it's pretty cheap, I'd say around €10? It cost me €12.90 when I took it earlier this month, but I was travelling out to the western suburbs so it would be more.

I'm a young guy and I manage the stairs fine, with my suitcase, but if you have a lot of baggage, or your not up to carrying it up and down what (depending on the station) can be a lot of steps, it may be tricky.

The other option is the Air France Coach, which I haven't taken before but I think costs around €16 one way. I'm not sure which one, but one of the bus lines goes from the airport to Porte Maillot, which is just north of the 16th.

Either way, I'd say your looking at a journey time of about an hour, which isn't too bad.

Paris is a fantastic city, and you'll absolutely love it. There's so much to do, and not just the usual touristy things (Eiffel Tower, Louvre, etc).

Anymore questions feel free to ask!

One route you could take is the RER B to Saint Michel and then take the RER (towards Pointoise) to Porte Maillot.

Or you could take the RER B to Chatelet, then the RER A (westbound) to Charles de Gaulle Etoile and then the metro line 2 to Porte Dauphine.

It really depends on what station is closest to you!

I think I'll go for that one and get off at Avenue Henri-Martin.
    Thanks for your help!!

I'm going to Paris tomorrow, due to luggage and my lack of desire to drag it any stairs, I booked a hotel close to the Port Malliot bus stop for Air France, their shuttle is 27 Euro return. You could consider the same and then taking a taxi.

the bus is quicker to the 16th than the RER.
