    Hi all,

I'm at my wits end with Saorview in the kitchen.

    Have a saorview approved TV.
    I bought this 2 days ago - One-For-All-SV9350-Outdoor-DVBT-Antenna
According to the Saorview website I should aim it towards the 3 Rock Mast which is due south of us, so I mount it outside about 15 feet up and point the skinny part of the aerial towards the M1 South. Easy peasy!

No signal. Have tried everything for 3 days. Nothing.

The weird thing is that when I was messing around with the TV outside a few weeks ago, I used an Lloytron indoor aerial in the middle of the garden at head height and picked up everything. World Cup in HD no problem.

    Have I bought a turkey?

Thank you for any shared wisdom!
    GW

Have you tried all the adjustments available on the aerial mounting? Three Rock transmits horizontally polarised signals. And you have power going to the integrated amplifier?

Even if you do get it working, I wouldn't count on such an aerial providing longterm reliable service.

Ok thanks, very much. Yes had the amp powered aswell. I'll try and get a bit more height and see what happens.

My saorview experience has been far from easy! You live and learn.

At that distance from 3 Rock I'd probably install a proper outdoor aerial, like this for example - http://www.tvtrade.ie/red-group-a-uhf-aerial.html

Thanks, I actually have one of them in the attic. It has a black tip? I was able to get a picture when i plugged in a short coax cable into and moved tv into attic to test!

Cant figure out a way to mount it on the wall without a pole. Sigh!

    Cheers

Have you tried for the signal from Clermont Carn up near Dundalk? On channels 52 & 56, vertical polarisation.

You need to get an aerial that looks like an aerial not one that tries to be invisible because it will be invisible to TV signals as well. I guess the amplifier is not doing much either. You cannot amplify what is not there.

Black tip aerial is a wideband aerial, covers the full UHF TV range (and the new 4G mobile frequencies since they were released from TV in 2012, could cause problems if there's a 4g mast nearby).

This aerial wall mount can be used to fix the aerial to the wall provide the pole clamp is still with the aerial - http://www.tvtrade.ie/tv-aerial-wall-bracket.html, http://www.satworld.ie/mounting-brackets/tv-aerial-brackets.html.
