It is supposed to be affecting Public Sector workers only, but we've a private company here with 100+ employees and nobody has been paid.

When will this shit end. Fuck SEPA.

    http://businessetc.thejournal.ie/bank-of-ireland-payments-1641790-Aug2014/
BANK OF IRELAND said it is investigating a delay in wage payments to some customers this morning as it emerges that customers at a number of banks did not get paid.

This follows a similar incident at the end of last month which saw a delay in processes at Bank of Ireland that meant some public and private sector workers were not paid on time.

It's not just BOI, it's AIB and PTSB too.

The issue appears to be effecting any person who was due to be paid today, whose employer banks with BoI and they bank with any other bank.
Employees who bank with BoI themselves dont seem to be effected.

A lot of employers and pretty much all of the state bodies bank with BoI. A fair few private sector companies as well I'd reckon.

There have been a number of c0ck ups in the past few months at banks in relation to payments - absoltely crazy stuff in this day and age.

I dont think it because clear what the cause of the last major issue was but surely something concrete has to be found this time and ensure that it doesnt happen again at BoI.

It makes no difference who the employee banks with. If your employer's bank is BOI you probably won't get paid today (if you were due to of course!!!!).

People should change away from BOI and petition their employers to do the same. One f*ck up is bad, but to repeat it a few weeks later is ridiculous.

It wouldn't surprise me if it turns out they are working the money to make a few bob for themselves before passing it on

This would be a huge undertaking for a lot of employers - especially the bigger ones.
Much easier to suggest compensation from the banks to people effected.

Got paid this morning, I'm with BOI.

Our place advised us that once they move to SEPA was done, you may not get paid until during the course of the day. It wouldn't be soon after 00:00 as it used to be

I got paid so it doesn't seem to be the same problem as last time.

The funny thing is,I checked my account last night at 00.15 and I was after being paid.
I was surprised as that's the fastest ever since SEPA.

i didnt get paid again and its just not good enough, the stress that this is going to cause me today as i was so heavily reliant as most people are to get the money today. How can they let this happen again did they not learn from 4 weeks ago, i think we should be compensated as its left me in a difficult situation today as i have no money for lunch and need money to play football tonight, absolute joke

The problem isn't SEPA. this was discussed quite a bit the last time. The issue was with how the banks here made it a mission to not be fully SEPA compliant.

No pay here either and today lots of bills are due to be paid. I will end up overdrawn on my account. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.

My sister is a teacher, she texted me earlier to find out what was going on (as If I'm her assistant or some sh!t). I texted her back saying that because she hadnt been working for the last three months, she didnt deserve to get paid.

    Nothing back from her yet.

Not for years and years. I've been in the PS for over 10 years (last day tomorrow!!) and never had it.

EFT was supposed to end the need to go to the bank as salaries were not being paid by cheque - I suppose simply eliminating salaries is even more efficient :D

This is what happens when you outsource your IT instead of keeping a team of IT nerds in-house to look after things.

It's funny how banks actually charge for this so called service !

All our guys have been paid in last 30 mins.

On one hand, you might say WTF is the problem - pay was only delayed by a few hours, get over it.

On the other hand, I've received 40+ calls from angry staff, pissed off about the possibility of DD's being delayed and charged for etc. I've sent 100+ emails and texts trying to pre emt calls, which in itself has generated more calls etc from staff who don't understand or believe that it's not our fault.

Sure everyone got paid, but what was the cost in lost man hours trying to find out what happened, explain the situation to staff, send emails & texts etc etc.

    What a clusterfuck.

people are very foolish if they have their DDs set up for the exact same day they are due to be paid

When you're paid fortnightly like a lot of PS staff, it is natural that sooner or later your pay day will coincide with they day(s) that DDs are due to be paid out.

Happened to me the last time this happened (four weeks ago), but to be fair, BOI were pretty quick to pay me back for bank charges incurred as a result of not being paid on time. I bank with PTSB.

IF you have incurred charges as a result of this, e-mail EFT@boi.com and let them know. They'll get back to you in a day or so, to advise you what to do.

Why? Is there something wrong with assuming you will get your wages on the day that they are due?

Why the ****ers does everyone have their bills due to go the day they get paid? There's so many things along the chain that could result in a few hours or a days delay. Ffs even change them to the following day.

As soon as one of the lads in the public services it department sets up comparetheps.ie and I can see my choices for which public service I can choose to switch to we can see about the similarities.

Perhaps they're not charging enough, resulting in an underfunded IT set-up?
