Going through the cards tomorrow and one caught my eye in the 6.50 at Hamilton for the sheer fact I've followed Alston a good bit at the start of the season with bit's of word coming from the yard, didn't get rich anyway and more losers than anything including tomorrows selection for me.

His form lately is poor but I just can't help but get involved with King Of Paradise tomorrow.

    King Of Paradise e/w @ 10/1
    6.50 Hamilton

King Of Paradise has had 28 runs and 4 wins, all of them wins have come at Hamilton so this place gets something extra out of him. His last win was nearly a year ago over 1m5f in a Class 4 here and the horse he bet by a neck that day won this evening over hurdles in Worcester (pointless information but name stood out and was wondering why). Tomorrows race is over 1m4f and a Class 5. Has won over 1m3f so the one in-between shouldn't be a problem. Ground isn't a worry as won on it all, GF, Good, GS and soft around here and tomorrow's ground is same as his last win here last year.

That day last September when KOP won, he was in off a mark of 72 with Hart who was claiming at the time 3lb's riding him. Tomorrow KOP goes in off 65. Mark is dropping all the time and his last few runs would suggest that's the plan.

Last 2 times was held up in rear and weakened quickly. The 4 times he won, 2 of them he made all and the other 2 times he was up with the pace at in the front pack. I expect Hart to be out quickly tomorrow and try likewise.

And a tweet from Hart this evening would suggest just so :

    "Scottish Racing ‏@ScottishRacing 8h
@jasonhart13 Of all the horses you have worked with who is your favourite? From @ScottishRacing

    Jason Hart ‏@jasonhart13 8h
@ScottishRacing I get a kick out of riding King Of Paradise at Hamilton when he goes clear and just hangs on!"

Here's hopping he can do the same tomorrow!

Small money about this evening, Ladbrokes 12s into 9s (a few quid would move a price with them so wouldn't take much with them tight c**ts) and BV 10s into 8s. Bet365 gone opposite way, 8s out to 10s. And with one runner already doubtful, lets hope no more pull out and cut the e/w placings.

His first time wearing head gear.... how do you think he will react?

Seen that. Keep him focused on business ahead for sure and seems to be a bit hard to settle a start after coming out of the stalls lately. Should be a good move.

Has ben a while since ULIS DE VASSY last ran but i think he will storm this one easily.

Noted this last night as a big market mover. 11/2 with Bet365 and 5/1 with BV it opened. Was well overpriced at that and if runs anyway to form after lay off should be in the mix and this race seems to have been the target for a while now after winning it last year. Johnson in the saddle would indicate connection thoughts also. Price gone for me to get involved now all the same in a tight field.

Nice write up shmee and you make a decent case,i've had a few quid on but only got 11/2 and didn't bother going e/w when only 1st 2 places now

I think witchs brew in the grp 3 @ tipp is very big value at 8/1

Nice write up shmee, would have followed you but got on too late and see that the juice has been taken out of the price.

Have taken Bifocal in the race after King Of Paradise in Hamilton. This one has been on my radar since it first ran at Musselbrugh last year and was only narrowly beaten into third despite been desperately slow out of the stalls. Beaten fairly narrowly into 2nd on a seasonal reappearance last month over same course and distance it rides at today. I think that this one should be fighting fit and hopefully produces a powerful run and smashes up the opposition. Best price 10/3, but this looks like a 2 horse race with the well backed Swinbank runner. We all know Swinbank loves a gamble and the way this is being backed suggests the stable feel defeat is out of the question. Going to take a chance anyway. Only concern is the conditional jockey on board. Garry Whillans has gone 110 rides over 2 years without a win :pac: What can I say though lads, I am a glutton for punishment.

Lads i was tipped this horse 2 weeks ago lavianiad only finished 3rd that day,But if you look at that race he looked like he was going to win it easy was a 5lb claiming jockey.Today P J Smullen has the ride running at 7:30 Tipperary. He's worth checking out.One other thing might be worth mentioning is it's W P Mullins only run at the meeting.

Morga in the opener at Bellewstown looks to be a slam dunk, no odds at 6/5. Also doing Railway Zira at 7's on Betfair to place, feel this has more potential than has shown recently.

Another Harrington gamble this evening in Tipp in the 5.30. 25s into 4s, just like the one last Saturday. Didn't see the word till late today and value was gone, was cut in halve this morning all of a shot within an hour of price opening around 20s. Lola Beaux btw.

AP McCoy in fine form. 2 wins at Fontwell today and surely would've been 3 if not for a fall at the final fence (neck and neck going into it but his was going better, the other one slowed quite a bit by the finish).

Just saw one of the worst things I've ever seen on a course. in the 5:25 at Fontwell a horse crashed violently into the side of the hurdle. WOW

I haven't heard anything yet. I'm looking at ATR and the broadcaster seemed more concerned about the jockey.

Jayus christ, backed into 3/1 fav and was sure I'd get a run for my money. Well beaten 3f out.

Just ain't good enough anymore. One to brush aside.

    Sorry all if on.

    Comical scenes at Ireland.

Even more shambolic scenes at Hamilton. They should know my horse is a tricky customer, why did they lead it into the stalls so early!?

Horse decided to do a few laps of the track as they were about to go off. Jockey couldn't pull it up and no one even tried to check the momentum of the horse.

Head strong horse at Bell'town didn't want to pull up and gather before the race. He instead took Sara O'Biren arnoud the track 3 full laps

Have done Illusive in the last at Tipperary for the sole reason that Donnacha O Brien still hasn't gotten off the mark yet. 8/1 a decent price considering Daddy will be all out to help him get his first winner and this is only a 4 horse race.

He rode a solid race. I would liked to seen a more confident ride.He didn't really go with the hands and heels in the lane but for where he is in his career I cant help but to think he will improve and get a win soon.

That is a shocking reason for backing a horse Francie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,200 ✭✭✭superfurry1

When you have such a long string of second placers with the greatest of reasoning sometimes it is exactly the type of thinking you need :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,484 ✭✭✭Peintre Celebre

Patience is key. No point backing a horse you half fancy or for any other reason, especially 'just for the interest'. This is pissing your money away. Wait six months for a bet if you have to

I personally see no problem putting down small bets for an interest in a race/match/tournament. Its a hobby not a job for the majority.

Fair enough Greg. I don't agree with it but respect people's choices
