Hi all, just wondering if anyone has any experience of the galaxy aqua 9000 xp electric shower? Its tank fed, my uncle has one about 4 years now in the last week it has started acting up, it has 4 settings, cold, low, medium, high then the other dial is 1-10 I think. when they shower they use the high setting but it cuts out after a about a 45 seconds and stops no water comes out and then it kicks in again after about 60 seconds then cuts out again. If they use the medium settings the shower works away and doesn't cut out. He sent me on some pictures of the internals of the shower and looks like its seen better days.

He removed the cover thats over the motor for the pictures. Has anyone any experience with this brand/model? Is it worth trying to fix or should he just get a new shower ?

This is a tough one to diagnose without testing it without a multi meter but from the little information provided I'm guessing it needs a new solenoid.
Not a single shot of the solenoid btw, not that anyone would know if it's good or not from a photo.
Galaxy aren't ever going to win shower of the year. If it's not something simple like the solenoid then I suggest you change it for a triton or mira.

Sorry, I got him to check the solenoid, its on the bottom right behind a pipe, around 3.6 ohms, is what he said, I haven't seen it in person so can only relay the information he gave me, if it was the solenoid what would it work ok on medium and cut out on high?

Would is he? A proper shower repair company will sort this in minutes. 3.7 is the correct reading but 3.6 might be fine. They need a reading at the moment the water shuts down.
Solenoid can read fine when off but can overheat in use.
Get someone who knows what they are doing to test /repair it. Or just stick a new solenoid in. You'll find out quick enough.
