    Hi,

I've a friend who has a early 00's Nissan Almera, last week the car went to the garage for 2 new brake pads and also to get the handbrake cable changed. I was thinking maybe 150-175 including labour. Garage came back with an invoice for 325... Anyone else think this seems incredibly expensive?

Yes it does. Always better getting the price up front...less surprises that way.

Were the discs changed too or just the pads?

It's impossible to say how fair the price is without knowing exactly what was done. Have you seen the breakdown of the costs on the invoice? Those Almeras are well known for suffering from seized calipers so maybe it ended up needing one or two replaced.

Thays madness. I highly doubt thats all was done???

Brake pads are about €30 to buy so the rest labour?

Mr Detail, its not just '30 to buy a set of pads', the op has said that the car was getting 2 new brake pads. is that 2 sets of brake pads? Hand brake cables were also replaced, not a labour intensive job as such but still the guts of an hour. I think personally 150-175 was a bit of wishful thinking.

if it was as I think, 2 sets of pads as in front and rear pads and replace handbrake cables then I'd be thinking 250/275ish so in reality while it seems a bit on the high side 325 isn't hugely off. As Geo says though you'd have to see the invoice.
