In praise of Ryanair

I was very recently on holidays in Spain, both legs booked with Ryanair. We had to travel home early due to a family bereavement.

We went to the agent acting on behalf of Ryanair in the airport and explained the situation. The earliest they were able to fit our family back was 2 days later and we had to pay about E450 extra for the flights.

I sent them an email as soon as we returned seeking the extra cost of the flights back. I just got an email today saying that the E450 would be lodged back into my CC account.

    Credit where it's due!

EDIT: Our daughter who had booked to fly over to join us after the bereavement contacted Ryanair and advised them that she and her travelling companion would be unable to fly. She has just informed me that she has also received an email from Ryanair confirming that the costs of their flights will also be refunded

Well that sure is more praise for Ryanair indeed!

Fair play to you for sharing. People are quick to give out but often forget to give positive feedback...

Wow, that is some change in policy there. But credit where credit is due, that was a very nice gesture from Ryanair.

It's good to see that a bit decent customer service can go a long way and creates a lot of good publicity. Thanks for letting us know OP :)

OP my condolences for your loss.

The only people I really hear complaining about Ryanair are the Daily Mail who always have an anti-Irish agenda anyway. If you know how Ryanair works and play by their rules then you'll be fine. I have taken a few dozen flights on Ryanair and never had a problem with the airline.

I've never had a problem with them. You get what you pay for. This year they have really improved themselves and their new site is great and easy to use. Well done to them on this occasion and condolences for your loss.

Went over and back to Fuerteventura recently and had a toddler in tow. They gave us the option of checking in our carry on bags on both legs which was very handy when having to mind the toddler.

On one of my last nights as a HotelReceptionist, one duty I took on myself was in contacting the lost & found with Ryanair in Cork for some guests. The agent rang me back twice; bags were located; a taxi was sent from Cork to the hotel with the luggage before I finished my shift at 11pm that night. The guests incurred no expense as we were able to provide basic toiletries for them before their own arrived within their luggage.

Could not fault one aspect. Once the guests informed me their luggage had been lost to the moment the bags arrived; the Ryanair staff involved were faultless.
Have had other guests inform me through the years of lost luggage, but no result was as prompt and faultless as this was very recently.

Yeah I've flown with Ryanair on two separate occasions now and both times were pleasant experiences, especially my most recent one.
The cabin crew were extremely friendly and seemed to actually enjoy their job.
Both times my flights landed before the scheduled time too.
I also appreciate that the seats can't be reclined on Ryanair flights.
