    Apologies if already reported ;
3e have announced an exciting new broadcast deal with The Ultimate Fighting Championship as part of its 2014 Autumn Schedule.

It means that various UFC fights will be broadcast to a terrestrial audience in Ireland as the popularity of the sport continues to grow.

The announcement comes after the UFC Fight Night Dublin event in July became the highest-rated sporting event in 3e's history, reaching 600,000 viewers.

That marked the first time a UFC event was broadcast to a terrestrial audience in Ireland, and featured Dubliner Conor McGreger wowing his hometown audience with a first round win against Brazil’s Diego Brandao.

McGregor's next fight is set to take place at the UFC 178 event in Las Vegas on September 27th against American Dustin Poirier.

In the build-up to July's UFC Fight Night Dublin event Garry Cook, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of UFC Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: “The popularity of the UFC in Ireland continues to grow at an enormous rate. We are confident that this is only the beginning of things to come for our sport in Ireland.”

We're looking forward to seeing more of McGregor and other UFC stars grace the 3e screens in the future, when more details are announced shortly.

To get the full lowdown on TV3 and 3e Autumn Schedule, head on over to the TV3 website.

So what exactly will TV3/3e be showing?

Is this article deliberately vague or is that just the sceptic in me??

Is this a prelims only deal?? Or simply just a commitment from the UFC to give 3e exclusive terrestrial broadcast rights for future Irish events only??

    Wait and see I guess.

It appears from other articles that it will be delayed coverage (possibly similar to Bravo years ago) of the more popular events (i.e. not all FN's) .... And obviously every McGregor fight.

Anyone know where UFC 178 can be seen here? It's not coming up on sky box office and I can't imagine 3e screening it without publicising it!!

    Thanks for that.

That would be deadly if it was the case. But how much if a delay are we talking? Anybody know how setanta/BT sports might react to this?

If 3e have all the big events a lot of Irish subscribers might reconsider their subscriptions.

Ring up Sky & tell them you want to add BT Sports to your package. Simples!

You don't even have to, you can do it all online through setanta's website. All you need is your viewing card number

I'm hearing 3e will show a highlight package on Monday nights

The Setanta Package (Bt Sport) will be showing UFC 178 (and other UFC events) live as usual

Ya Setanta have released a statement saying UFC178 is exclusively live possibly to clear up confusion.

Imagine they could have UFC Sweden live possibly with Pendred on the card and other upcoming Euro Events.
