Hi hoping for some advice. Getting married in NY in December. I have my heart set on a tea length wedding dress. Had a look on some sites but nothing catches my eye. Just wondering if anyone had some names of sites or shops that specialise in them.
I was also thinking of getting one made. What i want is a lace ivory tea length dress with capped or maybe slight longer sleeves ane a round sheer neckline. Willing to travel if i saw the perfect dress. Another idea was a dressmaker if anyone knows of any recommended dressmaker in the kerry/ cork region i would be grateful if could give me some names and number. The only catch is i didn't want to spend anymore than 600 euro. Do you think this is achieveable. Any advice would be grateful. thanks x

I've been looking too and doesn't seem too popular in shops unfortunately. Dirty Fabulous in Dublin and Lilac Rose in Limerick were two places that caught my eye as actually having some so I might try there. Online has better selection(obviously) but I'd love to try a dress on first. Maybe tea length would be terrible on me. My budget would be about the same.
    some sites kittyanddulcie.com,lightinthebox.comhoneypieboutique.co.uk?
    etsy? Ebay?

Bellabear Vivenne of Holloway, based in Uk around £300 for 50's style tea length dresses. Memories Bridal on Parliament St, Dublin has a stunning tea length dress in their window.

Yes, I really recommend trying on first.

I had my heart set on a tea length dress, and found so many gorgeous ones online. This was the whole "look" I wanted for my wedding. Then I tried on some, and I looked ridiculous. Maybe it was the length, or the fact that the skirts are usually very full, but I looked weirdly out of proportion. I had been thinking then about something more towards knee-length, but hadn't found any to try on. Then I just started trying on simple, full-length gowns and found a couple I really liked.

I especially wouldn't recommend getting anything custom made (either online or in real life) without trying on a similar style beforehand, even in a different colour.

There's a couple of similar threads on this, see http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=86229734 and http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2057162031.
I've recommended http://www.kittyanddulcie.com/cheap-...g-dresses.html before for this sort of dress style, though haven't bought from them myself. I've bought from lightinthebox and can't recommend the quality of the material tbh, the size is also on the large side.

Dolly Couture popped into my head as soon as I read your description, they're around your price range too. This one sounds a lot like what you're describing!

Cutting Edge Brides are based in the UK but they can post a sample to try on, the samples may only be in one size but you'd get an idea.

thanks a million everyone for all the suggestions the webistes have been a great help. Your are so right hbert and biddywiddy i would love to try one on as it could be terrible on me.

My problem is i am going to NY to get married it is only myself and my OH and no one else knows we are going to get married. I hate the idea of going into a bridal shop on my own and trying on dresses especially when i cant bring my sister or my friends as we are eloping. I am so glad we have decided to do this as my mum recently passed away and i couldn't bare to get married here and look at the family table without her in it. Plus it was always my dream to go to NY for xmas and the NY and now i have all my dreams fulfilled in one. If anyone ever wants to go and elope to NY let me know i can give you all the details! Still so much to do but i will get there. Again thats for all the suggestions

Wow that sounds amazing! Wishing you the very best of luck :)
Could you try a vintage shop that would sell dresses in that style even if not bridal to get an indication or visit a dressmakers with samples?

O wow! This will be amazing! We seriously talked about eloping (to NY also!), but we ended up deciding to have a small wedding when we're back in Ireland at Christmas.

You still have time to try something off the rack to see if the style is what you like. Are you near Dublin? You could try giving Dirty Fabulous a call to see what styles they have in stock. It's a vintage boutique, so it won't have the same 'vibe' as the usual bridal shops. Could be a nice place to start (for accessory ideas too).

Retro Shop in Dublin also have tea-length dresses, not wedding ones necessarily but you'd see if the style suited you.

    Check out http://candyanthony.com/ stunning dresses!

But any decent dressmaker will definitely make you a dress for less than €600 in that style! My dressmaker is making a very electorate 1950s style dress with lots of detail & petticoats with a fascinator for less than €1000! :)
