    Hello,
maybe you know - if someone is working in a coffee shop, can he apply for that Flat Rate Expenses?
If yes, which industry to choose?

It's not Hotel (Hospitality), Bar or exactly Retail...

    Kind regards
    Arthur

this job also includes waitering. In revenue, they told me it's 64 euro... and i could put it under Hotel / Bar.
So if anyone is looking for an answer there it is :)

Best way to deal with this is to apply in writing to your local office outlining your occupation , details of your expenses , in relation to uniforms/ working clothes , tools etc .

The tax office will then decide your entitlement .

The list says waiters (in hotel industry) 97
    Retail employees 121

If I were you, I'd phone up Revenue (see their website for your PAYE locall number) and ask for the 121 expenses for retail staff.

I can't see you being asked to detail your expenses re uniform etc.

Bear in mind that the 121 extends your standard rate band by that amount (so a single person would typically have a standard rate band of 32,800 + 121). If you're not earning over 32,800, then the effect of the 121 expenses is a credit increase of 20% of that amount. - so it's worth €24 a year - 50c a week. But by all means apply - €24 would buy you a nice takeaway!

    Hello,

Does anyone know if/how flat rate expenses can be claimed for the current tax year? As in claiming now for 2014?

    Thanks

(PS sorry if this post is in the wrong thread, couldn't find anywhere else relevant to put it!)
