Service included when buying from a garage?

    Hi

I bought a car at the end of February, it's now due a service (light coming on to tell me to change oil filter). My question is should the car have been serviced before it left the garage where I bought it? I checked the service record and it says that last service was provided in September last.

That is totally dependent on the deal you struck at the time of sale and how reputable the garage are. Most reputable garages will give the car an oil & filter change along with a detailed inspection as part of the sale. Less reputable places may tend to just tell you they did when they probably didn't do anything other than give it a quick valet.

It is also possible that the garage serviced it but didn't stamp the service book or reset the service interval light at the time? Not unheard of either.
