Where do you typically find out about local dog shows that are being held? Is there a website, local papers etc?

Are you looking for championship shows? If so this website has the dates and schedules etc.

Also, try www.ikc.ie but this one is a big hard to get around.

Local dogs shows are a diff thing if they are at the likes of your Agriculture shows etc. They wouldn't be listed anywhere.

A lot of agricultural shows and local field days (both of which are coming to an end after the summer season) have dog shows where you just turn up and enter your chosen class on the day, usually for a euro or two. The Irish Shows Association (irishshows.org) has a list of the show dates, and as they tend to be roughly the same weekend each year, you'll have an idea of what show is on when. Also, most shows have their own websites, or at least contact details for the secretary, so you could always contact them to see if they have a dog show. Local field days and festivals are usually advertised in the local press, so keep an eye out in those publications too.

Most shows have more 'general' type classes - best sheepdog, terrier breed, big/small dog, dog handled by a child, dog you'd like to take home, etc. so it's not like the classes you see at Crufts, etc. They're great fun and always attract a huge crowd.
