    I would imagine arse in a scouser accent would be confused with ice

    Imagine a posh English person saying ass. I think that's where arse comes from.

    I reckon that in England, it's be used in more rural areas, and more up north than in the south. Like Yorkshire. It's not in the north but I think it'd work well with a Cornwall accent.

    Also;
    arse (n.) Look up arse at Dictionary.com
    "buttocks," Old English ærs "tail, rump," from Proto-Germanic *arsoz (cognates: Old Saxon, Old High German, Old Norse ars, Middle Dutch ærs, German Arsch "buttock"), from PIE root *ors- "buttock, backside" (cognates: Greek orros "tail, rump, base of the spine," Hittite arrash, Armenian or "buttock," Old Irish err "tail"). Middle English had arse-winning "money obtained by prostitution" (late 14c.).

    It comes from the German word arsch, do you not read the titles on German porn.

    I often learned more from RTL on a Saturday night than a full week of school.

    The English can't pronounce a lot of Irish words and phrases.Ever hear the commentators on At The Races try and say some Irish named horses.Boy do they struggle.

    Surely it depends on the accent. I imagine a Norfolk farmers accent or Somerset would be well able.

    Yes, English people sometimes have troubles with irish pronuncioniations, as we have with some English pronunciations.

    To be fair, Irish people can have trouble with Irish pronunciations.

    Whatever about it's originations , it is a great word. Very usable and multi purpose.

    Wanna feel really good? Go in to the woods and shout "Fckin Arse" at the top of your voice over and over again. Very liberating that is...and great stress relief.

    I think the beneficial effects of swearing like that are greatly reduced if you already use the word a lot.
    Perhaps finding the word you're most uncomfortable saying and shouting that would be better?

    Not as good as "buttocks". What a great word it is.
