Christmas present dilemma

Our first child is due on December 25th, and naturally I'm hoping they're not born on the day so we don't have to buy them a present. Hell we're not even getting a travel system - a nice comfy Lidl bag will do for the first few months. Naturally I'll pad it with kitchen towels.

So AHers, my question is this - if the kid is born on Xmas day, do really I have to buy them a present?

And yes, I will love the kid very much, but I'm a cheap fecker too.

You don't buy a present for them the day they are born.

I was going to suggest giving the mother one, but I assume you already have.

Skip the birthday present, buy him a Christmas present instead.

    Jesus.
    Yeah, it's his birthday.

    Allegedly.

Unless you intend on putting one of your wife's tits in Christmas wrapping paper, I'd say don't be worrying about getting them anything should they happen to be born in time for Christmas.

Just don't call it Noel/Noelle. Or Santa.

She'll get whatever she wants, no limit. She's welcome to it after carrying our kid for nine months.

You may or may not be happy to learn that only a small percentage of babies are born on their due date. He/She is more likely to pop out a few days before or a few days after. My first boy was almost 2 weeks after and my daughter was 10 days after. Of course, my youngest arrived when he was supposed to and has been bang on time for everything ever since.

    I agree.

His earlier suggestion was more subtle but it went right over the OP's head. :)
