Repeat LC class without fees?

Does anybody know where in inner city/south Dublin a student can find a repeat LC course which does not charge fees? I remember when I did the LC there was a specific repeat class in the same VEC, and the students did not pay a fee. The student in question says their only alternative is to pay IoE style fees if they want a designated LC repeat class. I find this hard to believe. Would anybody be able to clarify the situation? Thanks.

This link gives a list of schools in City of Dublin ETB. Your friend could try and ring around the schools and see what they have on offer.

Note that the State Exams Commission charge students a €300 fee to repeat the LC.

May all have changed now as its 'many years' since I did my LC but anyone in my class who needed to repeat and couldn't afford the fees for the Institute went to the VEC in Ringsend where they had a Repeat LC class - not sure if it was free but it was certainly far amore affordable.

Ringsend, along with many other CDETB schools (Rathmines and Plunket to name just two) and CoDETB schools have affordable repeat Leaving classes.

Marian College in Ballsbridge has a Repeat Leaving Cert course which is affordable. It admits boys and girls (although its a boys school).
