"Free" tablets

Usually advertised on telecommunications companies websites as part of an internet package, what's the catch with these "free" tablets, do you ever actually get to own them permanently once you pay off a fee, or is it just some marketing trick where you never actually own the thing?

"I saw this commercial on late night TV, it was for this thing you attach to a garden hose, it was like "You can water your hard-to-reach plants with this product." Who the f*ck would make their plants hard to reach? That seems so very mean. "I know you need water, but I'm gonna make you hard to reach! I will throw water at you. Hopefully they will invent a product before you shrivel and die! Think like a cactus!" So it said, "You can have this product for four easy payments of 19.95." I would like to have a product that was available for three easy payments, and one f*ckin' complicated payment! We ain't gonna tell you which payment it is, but one of these payments is gonna be a b*tch. The mailman will get shot to death, the envelope will not seal, and the stamp will be in the wrong denomination; good luck, f*cker! The last payment must be made in wampum!" - Mitch Hedberg

"Free tablet" gives people the impression they will be getting a free state of the art IPad for their internetting pleasure. But probably means they will be signing 2 year contract for an overpriced mediocre service to get a free low grade slow as fcuk tablet that they could have bought themselves from China for 12 euro.

Before they had computers they had to do the calculations by hand.

Fairly simple force equals mass by acceleration stuff. Except the mass changes a lot. And this affects your acceleration. Which affects how fast you go, which affects your wind resistance , which also affects your speed , which affects what altitude you will reach in a given time and thinner air means you can go faster because less drag. And more importantly thinner means you get more thrust from your engines because the exhaust isn't blocked by air, and this affects your force and we're back to mass by acceleration again.

Did I mention that at higher accelerations the increased g's help increase the fuel flow which increases the Force from the engines ?

A Saturn V changes mass by 15 tons a second. And in the first 60 seconds the air resistance changes from 0 to transonic to supersonic.

There's also the curvature of the earth to take into account.

It's difficult with a computer, by hand it's insane.

One of the reasons the Russians got to orbit first was better mathematicians .

Unless the * beside Free Tablet* translates to

*note, free tablet only available after calculating first stage separation height, and maximum payload size for a 550,000 kg, 90% fueled Saturn IB launch vehicle
