Just wondering if anyone has ever bought a telescope while over in the states? Im going there later in the year and was thinking about buying one over there and bringing it back. Ive never been to america let alone bought anything from there so was wondering if airlines permit you bringing such an item back with you. I have my eye on a schmit cassegrain so it wouldnt be as bulky as others but im not sure weather its feasible. Optical tube only perhaps? Thanks for any input.

Thunder Cat.... It should not be a big deal. You may be asked to pay duty on this in customs, as long as you have the receipt this should not be an issue. Depending on the cost of the item. Not sure if you can bring this on board with you though, so if packing in a hard shell suitcase it would be preferable.
