Use short version of last name on resumé

    Hi everyone,

I have a very long, complicated and very foreign sounding last name. Hence, I would like to know if I could use a shorter version of my last name (which I also use on Linkedin and FB) on my resumé. I'm not talking about initials but just use half my name.

I know that I'll have to give my legal last name when filling the contract documents but the shorter version of my name works better for my resumé I think.

    Would this look suspiscious?

    Thanks!

I can't think of a single reason why not.

A lady I worked with did that. No issues whatsoever.

I would see this as similar to a woman using her maiden name.

Only a very suspicious person would think you have bad intentions. :)

I agree it's fine to use.

However it's not exactly the same as using a so-called maiden name. Marriage does not automatically change a woman's name, so the woman is still using her legal name unless she's done the paperwork to change it.
