I bought some novelty sunglasses from US from $99 + $47 shipping

I then received an invoice from FedEx for €120

The value of goods was declared as $499

Despite numerous emails and supplying copy of invoice and credit card statement FedEx wont help

"As this is a non FedEx error, there would be an €83.00 +VAT litigation
fee, Please confirm if you would like me to pass this for an amendment ?

As the invoice charges have been levied correctly they will remain due for payment, you could contact Irish customs direct to see if they can provide you with any assistance

Anyone know how to contact Irish Customs. Cant find contact email on the website

    thanks

Obviously the company sending it did not include a value or sales receipt/invoice. Therefore the revenue looked at what the normal retaile price was and applied that value.

    Fault lies with the sender.

He said it was novelty glasses, not exactly an ipod where the RRP price is easily found. I would like to see the glasses in question, I doubt any joke glasses are going for $499

I would have guessed it was high either as a mistake or for some insurance reason. This is often pointed out as a reason not to try and scam the post service by declaring very low values, since it can only be insured at that low value.

The company could be pulling a sort of scam, almost hoping it goes missing to pick up the high insurance.
