Cyclocross season 2014?

Hello all

I love this time of year, and would love to have another crack at a cyclocross event like I did a couple of years ago. Is there anything coming up that isn't madly competitive or top-end (I'm not particularly fit, and the steed is an old Surly Crosscheck)? There is something called the Fixx series, but the website shows nothing coming up in the next few weeks, despite an early race in RAthfarnham. I'm north Kildare based.

The Fixx series have two races, the B race is shorter than the A race and the competitive people should be in the A race.
First one is on the 28th Sept.
Happy training in the meantime.

Irish National Cyclo-cross Championships 2015

The venue for this years National Cyclo-cross championships will be Rivervalley Park, Swords hosted by Swords CC. The date for the event will be Sunday 11 January 2015. More details to follow.

Better than nothing. If you have an MTB you could try the B race on that first if you prefer.

Disc brakes seem to be what many manufacturers are pushing. I don't see the point really. It's about not slowing down and carrying speed. Also, all my wheels are not compatible so I won't be changing. I'd go for something like this Focus Mares instead, but that is just me: http://www.bike24.com/p263693.html

I will be switching to discs next season, makes the bike more versatile for road use, fire roads, gravel rides over the winter. My cantis are set up well, but they are still lacking a bit in the wet, especially on carbon rims.
