Newbridge Track will introduce Sales Races at the track next month in a new initiative in conjunction with the Track Supporters’ Club.

It is hoped that these Seles Races will make it easier for local greyhound owners to sell and purchase greyhounds from their local track. The Sales Races will be held on selected nights and initially it will be on a one night per month basis.
The races will be advertised for dogs of a particular grade and the entry forms will be available from the racing office. The first such race is provisionally scheduled for Saturday, September 27th and entries will be advertised next week.
Completed Entry Forms (with Reserve Price and Entry Fee) will need to be submitted to the Stadium Office at time of entry accompanied by an entry Fee of €50 with €40 being refunded after the greyhound runs. The Racing Manager will then select the 6 greyhounds and Reserves for the Sales Race from the entries received and full entry fee will be refunded to owners of greyhounds who are not selected for the Sales Race.
Joyce Black, Racing Manager, said “We are very much looking forward to hosting these sales races at the stadium as it makes purchasing & selling a greyhound much more accessible to everyone and will hopefully encourage some new people to get involved in greyhound ownership. I’d like to thank the Track Supporters Club for their involvement in this initiative which we will hopefully build on over the coming months.”
Martin Sweeney, Chairman of Newbridge Track Supporters Club said “This idea will hopefully get the full backing from all supporters of the industry and both buyers and sellers will benefit as a result of the secret bidding process, If it is supported realistically and with a common sense approach it should be of benefit to all".
