Bike suggestions €1500 - €2000 range

I'm looking to upgrade with a budget of up to €2k.

I know there are hundreds of options available but i'd appreciate any little bit of advice anyone has to offer

Afraid I'm not one to be giving advice worth anything but just some random window-shopping has brought this to view. Maybe someone with an opinion of worth could comment on it, a Cervelo only just over your budget.

I have been in the market at a similar price point.
I narrowed my search down to these websites:

Plenty of choice for something a bit more metallic that while ever so slightly heavier than a carbon road bike will most likely be none to common on Irish roads.

Rose and Canyon seem to give pretty good bang for your buck, particularly now that last season's stock is reduced.

Many of the bikes listed above were over the two grand mark, but reduced to just under €2,000 as they are last season stock. A good few of the bikes listed above are Ultegra Di2 equipped, if that appeals to you.

I like the look of the Cervelo mentioned above, but I think I may have just bought one of the Canyons! :eek:

It maybe be very comfortable, but the seat tube/top tube set up would put me off.

Giant defy composite? New models are out for 2015 so you might get a 2014 on sale.

the Canyon looks like a nice bike for sure...

i tend to think I'd be better opting for a 2k alu bike than a 2k carbon - any thoughts?

i think there is just too much choice out there!!!! pesky manufacturers....

Carbon will be more comfortable.

Should have rephrased that, the carbon bike I linked will be more comfortable than any of the others linked as it is specifically built for comfort, with features built into the frame to soak up road buzz and bumps.

Neither the Canyon or Rose carbon frames are low end, just good value, they both have an excellent reputation.

No bother. It's going to be your choice what you go for, we have just given you some options within your budget. You need to consider what you need. Are you really going to benefit from an alu bike with a higher end Di2 groupset or would you prefer a manual groupset with a carbon frame? You also need to consider the finishing kit and wheelsets that come with the bike. I know this doesn't help and just gives you more options to consider, but it's a huge purchase, you need to be sure of what you need/want to make the decision.

the advice is most welcome as it is definitely a mine field...

my current bike is entry level with only a tiagra set up so no matter what I end up going with, I am going to notice an improvement in all aspects hopefully.

i think ultegra would be more than enough for me

Yes, they are all aluminium. There are carbon options, but there are usually a bit more expensive. However, there are plenty of carbon options in that price range. There are others, but a small sample would be:

I am generally interested in best value, and I thought those linked to earlier were decent value even if they are aluminium

I suppose I am betraying my general preference for aluminium over carbon at the more modest end of the spectrum, (relatively modest, as it's still a large chunk of cash!), as I think you get a better overall package at the price-point. However, I am far from an expert in such matters, and it may well be the case that carbon is better for what you are looking for.

Many reviews I have read seem to suggest that the view that aluminium is inherently more harsh than carbon is not always the case. Again I am not expert, and I bow to the more experienced among you.

I hope you are satisfied with your choice, for the budget you should get something that will keep you happy for a long time.

I'm going for the Canyon Endurance CF with Ultegra 6800 for €1,900
It has more than enough spec for me.
