Skoda Octavia issue

I recently bought a 99 Octavia with a recent NCT cert, car seems clean inside and out etc.

I hhave noticed though that it can be difficult to start if it's left for short periods(I mean 20 mins or less).

The key turns and the battery light comes on but the motor wont "catch".

It will usually start without any problems if I leave it for a while but is causing problems when the engine is warm.

Has anybody any idea what could be the problem?

I had an old Kawasaki ZXR that suffered badly from valve-clearances closing up and making it the very devil to start while it was hot. It started OK once it cooled down. Could it be a similar problem here? Is it high-mileage? Is it eerily quiet when it is running?

There's 95k miles on it..cant say I've noticed anything about the noise it makes when running though.

Mmm. It could be some bloody awful heat-related electrical thing, which is a pain in the hole.

Get it scanned first of all. It could be a starter or crankshaft sensor.......
