Fit out hi fi to kitchen

Hope this is the right forum -
I want to put an internet radio/ ipod dock/ radio / maybe CD player into my kitchen.

The kitchen is on the small side, but L-shaped which makes the positioning of the speakers awkward.

I'm not up to speed with what is hi fi is available now (Bluetooth etc) , as the last hi fi I bought was a Nad pre-amp and some other kit that doesn't now work (20 odd years ago).

The pre amp has a good sound with the speakers I have - wonder if I could incorporate it?

    Any suggestions?

Not sure about incorporating the pre-amp but the Denon Ceol units seem to get fairly universally good reviews. They have models with and without CD player, they all have built in wi-fi (also have ethernet connections), and Airplay/DLNA. No bluetooth but there are loads of adaptors available if that's important to you. Could be worth a look. I'm considering replacing my 5.1 AV receiver with one.

I recently did the same thing.

I bought a Denon DM39 from richersounds.ie and I already had some Monitor Audio speakers to use. That gave me CD, radio, iPhone/iPod through the front USB.

I have a server on all the time in the house that stores my music. I installed Logitech Media Center on the server. I bought a Raspberry Pi off Adverts.ie and in installed piCorePlayer on it (I connect the RPi into my home network). The RPi gives me access to all my stored music plus Internet radio through the iPhone/Android apps.

    My wife loves it.

But if that sounds way over the top, look at maybe the Sonos system or Denon Ceol as advised above.

Wow - neat solution. Thanks for that. I never even thought of an android app for the internet radio. Do you have an iPhone just for your media or is it the one you carry around?

I have an Android phone and my wife has an iPhone so both phones have the Logitech Media Center app installed which controls the server itself. The beauty is that if you have another system in different room, you just get another Raspberry Pi (RPi) and the same apps works. So you have multiroom audio and I think you can synch both rooms if you have a party or something.

This is the software on the RPi

This is the phone app. This guy added the LCD screen as an extra.
