    Anyone with plum trees out there?

    Bumper crop for me this year, the branches are bent over with the weight of them.

    But what should i do with them all :confused: hate seeing them going to waste ..any suggestions??

    I'm so jealous, I have no plums this year due to pruning.

    I always make jam with plums

    PS they are better for jam if a little under ripe and that saves the wasps from getting at them too

    I find Plum butter nicer than plum jam!

    We've a good few plums on ours as well, botrytis got at a few of them but those that didn't the mother is making chutney with.
    If it's anything like her green tomatoes chutney, I'll stick up the recipe.

    Not at all - curd has eggs and butter in it so is quite creamy in texture. I'm sure a plum curd would be lovely too, but wouldn't keep as long.

    Fruit butter is just fruit & a small amount of water, slowly cooked & sieved, then sugar added & cooked again. More like a jam paste, very intense flavour.

    If you like I could scan in the receipt for you and upload later.

    +1 for plum chutney. I make chutneys with all gluts because it cooks down a LOT. Yummy in sandwiches, with curry to dunk poppodums in, with cheese...

    Plums everywhere this year also. made an apple and plum crumble earlier. Not to bad at all.
