Maybe one for the Hipsteresque posters, does anyone recall how a few years ago being Canadian was a prerequisite for musical kudos, Arcade Fire, Broken Social Scene, Feist, etc,

That seems to have dried up now, why do you think that some places are more musically fertile and others not, there's big cities over the water which pale into insignificance musically compared with Manchester, Liverpool or London. Obviously cities with large student populations have the advantage as well.

Then you get scenes that pop up in unexpected places like the 'shoegazing' bands from Oxford and Reading.

Can anyone think of a band who came from Norwich or Sligo for instance?

My old Irish/music Teacher was the guy who encouraged the sligo members to get together. They've mentioned him a few times as well............ Cool story bro needs more bacon and backflips

Scenes tend to form in different places due to the influence of radio stations or local performers. Really the only scenes in Ireland would be Dublin, Cork, Limerick and maybe Galway. I know Cork has a lot of harder rock bands as opposed to the hipster sh/te you see in other places.
