Hijacking this to turn it in a different direction if that's okay...

I was laughed at a couple of years ago for saying that once we move completely to digital distribution there will no longer be a need to publish and sell through a 3rd party (e.g amazon hard copy/Steam DD) and that publishers would take advantage of this. I think I estimated games eventually hitting the 99.99 mark.

€69.99 for games on origin now...

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that it means special edition buyers :)

In fairness to Origin, Steam had Planetary Annihilation's early access on sale for 90€ before too. And people bought it.

I remember that, thought it was bloody insane.

I'm still shocked it was allowed to go on sale at that price as an early access game. I always figured that early access meant you were paying to beta test something.. i can see the draw in that, but for 90 quid? lol i'll pass. Even more funny is that it's still in beta, and still costs quite a bit, even though it had been in a steamsale or three. Quite annoying really as i wanted to play it, and i'm not condoning piracy but those types of ridiculous prices would be a valid reason to obtain a game through 'other' means for a lot of people.

well it was 90e before arriving on steam, so they kept it like that so as not to screw over those who had backed it prior

I know the reason why is justified by the crowdfunding but it was still a ridiculous price

Use origin for launching games and get great speeds when downloading.

Dont really have any other use for it so it does what its supposed to for me. Could say the same for Steam tho, it does what its supposed to. never shop in either of them*

    Steam sale excluded.

Im pretty sure he means people that are stupid enough to pay full physical retail for a digital distributed game when its available in many other prices for WAY cheaper, even physical editions.

Potatoe user = "I can count to potatoe"

Guys, Origin got Off line mode? I am moving tomorrow, so no internet for few days. Was thinking of playing some Old C&C games.

    Googling returned this: https://www.origin.com/en-ie/how-to/offline-mode

It's not clear if you need to go online first every time before going to offline mode, but it appears it should work fine.

I decided to check there, tried logging in while not connected to the net. Came up "Online login unavailable", with no visible option for starting in offline mode like steam has. Bit annoying really.

I though so. DRM at its best. :D Ah well, I hope I will survive a week or two with no Steam/blizzard/Origin.

Will give more attention to wii U and PS4.

Yip, when you try to log in it will try to go online and then say "log in is unavailable", put your password in again and it will open in Offline mode and you can play whatever you have installed on the PC.

    Too late now. :(

I moved in to new place and no Internet at best until next monday. I did not downloaded c&c games :( as I though it won't work.

Ah well, I got civ 5 on steam.
