If you're working in an environment which encourages eye strain i.e. dark room and computer monitor is there anything you can take to mitigate the effects. Drops.. etc?

Put your monitor brightness at the lowest setting. In this situation most of the strain will come from the constant adjustments the eyes have to make between the dark background and the bright screen, reducing the difference will help.
