Using a Siemens RWB27 Timeswitch & Combi boiler

    Hi guys
I recently moved in to a new apartment and have just started trying the central heating out as the weather has started to get cooler. The Glowworm combi boiler is connected to a Siemens RWB27 Timeswitch such that it won't seem to operate without it being on. i.e. I had the timeswitch turned permanently off since I moved in, but then when I switched the gas heating on it did not light up the boiler. So I then switched the timeswitch to permanently on, and then the boiler heating turned on fine when I switched it on thankfully.

I don't really want to use a 7 day programme with the heat coming on and off at set times, but would rather just put it on if and when I feel cold as this may only be a couple of days a week at this time of the year. However, I am not sure I can operate it this way? If I leave the timeswitch to permanently on, but turn on and off the central heating control whenever I want heating will this work how I want it? i.e. is it ok to leave the timer system on permanently with the gas heating control turned off for example?

The only other option from what I can see is to actually set a 7 day programme so it comes on and off at automated times, which I don't want to do as it may change depending on the day / weather.

Thanks for any help on this!

With the time clock in the off position the boiler should start up by just pressing the 1hr boost button.

    From the RWB27 Manual..

    1Hr
This allows you to either increase your heating time in multiples of
one hour (up to a maximum of 3 hours) during a timed ON period
or to bring on the heating in multiples of one hour (up to a
maximum of 3 hours) during an OFF period.

Great - I saw that but I figured they meant an off period during the 'auto' setting (i.e. when the programme automatically runs)?. Will give this a go anyway and see - thanks for your help!

Hi K Flyer - I tried this this evening and it seemed to work how I wanted it to: i.e. it just came on for the hour and then went off.

    Thanks for your help!
