TCD Blackboard

Is anyone else having trouble logging onto the blackboard? I don't know if it's not up yet for first years or if it's just me.

I had trouble too, I got onto the helpdesk and they told me my browser might be trying to log on to the old version, or something. Go to mymodule.tcd.ie and when the error screen shows up, try pressing F5 or the refresh button and see what happens. Hope this works

How do you get your TCD username? Is that your student ID?

Sorry to be a complete newbie here ... But could anybody explain what the TCD blackboard is? I have a MyTCD account!

TCD blackboard is where the lecturers should put up all the slides, notes assignments for your course. But some don't use it, so they'll tell you where you can find them (if they put them online at all!). It is just a service do allow access to your course notes and things .

While MyTCD.ie is more to do with the administration side of college, where you find your student number, your exam number and timetable, registering, finance, who your tutor is etc. You will spend more time on blackboards than on mytcd, as mytcd is only for admin.
But the passwords and usernames should be the same (I think!), your username isn't your student ID though, you should be told what it is either through an email or something (I can't remember first year was 2 years ago for me!). It's usually some combination of your first and last names (maybe with a number or two in there)

Thank you so much for your help! You made that so much clearer. I'm persuming the Blackboard won't need to be set up then untill we actually start in the place.

Blackboard could be working for some users and it could not be working for others, it's really just a game of chance at this stage, the TCD administration system is really slow and takes ages to do anything. So you should be able to login in eventually.

Don't worry yourself about it at this stage though! Freshers Week is ages away and college doesn't start until the week after that methinks!
