Protected structure

We received notification from County Council that are house is to be added to the list of protected structures under the draft development plan - we have one month to make a submission. The house has been totally renovated in the last ten years as it was derelict before then (new roof, new windows, totally renovated internally - everything is new). I hope to make a submission that as it is now virtually a new build it should be excluded, as I can see no advantage for us in having it protected. Any advice? Am I wasting my time trying?

They might simply be interested in listing the front facade. I'd be asking them what is of interest to them.

Plus if they make it listed it'll create a world of problems for you down the line. Because if there's one thing councils love been and that's awkward.
