Does anyone remember operation flashpoint the first one? I haven't gamed for a while now but I loved this title and have searched for anything similar that could match up to it. the aspect of going anywhere doing what ever you wanted, like you could ambush random convoys that you could come across out of the blue every now and again or attack checkpoints that were dotted around the map. The use of any vehicle was also a great feature. Basically the fact that apart from the obvious scripted missions you could do whatever you liked. Can anyone suggest any more recent titles that have a shared formula and aren't just linear style fpp crap like cod and such where 80% of the game is cut scenes? thanks.

If it was still to be too high a price for you, you could always look at the previous Armed Assault games - again, same developer as the original Flashpoint but maybe available at a lower price for your budget either.

Operation Flashpoint.. man, there were some good memories. Completing that campaign ranked in my youth as a high achievement given the difficulty of that game!

You said it **** hard but not frustratingly so and enough variation with the missions to keep you engaged. Great title. This new style ie cod, fecking woeful, I really don't see the interest, even online its just madness running round crazy. They should revamp battlefield 1942 one of the best online titles ever imo.

I could never stop the nuke, I watched that thing sail off into the sunset a couple of dozen times.

There's a free version of Arma 2 also: http://www.bistudio.com/english/games/arma-2-series/arma-free. And by god flying an MV-22 is insane fun.
