The price isn't going to fall dramatically- there is less than a 10% markup on component cost in the unit- its profitable for Sony- but they're not rolling in the money from hardware sales.

They do not make their money from hardware sales anyway they make it from licenses.

The price will of course drop in due time as it has for every console in the past. Prices of components also drop.

Well- they are making money (albeit it not a lot) from console sales, this time round. It took them 3 years to break even on PS3 hardware sales. Yes- traditionally they have mopped up with content sales (and licensing)- however, they have a stated policy of trying to making all units profitable (which is partially why they've dropped their TV unit). The weaker Yen- is helping Sony big time.

Where are you finding the ps4 for 375? It's back to 469 now. You won't find it that cheap again for another year at least. Must have been a mistake.

They are still selling the last of us bundle (ie game in the box ..not separate) for €440.

Maybe the €26 add on to €375 console was a tad generous.

Yeah you should get it at the offer price. The email you got with the reservation number says the price.

Yeah they brought that in for the PS4, I believe it's something like €45 for a year, which is tremendous value given that they give you "free" games periodically with the subscription, as well as get big discounts on other games in the PSN Store. I read somewhere that you could save almost €750 on games when on that yearly subscription.

Given how the PS4 is built, and how online services such as features with in-game audio & video chat and social media sharing have been added/improved/made more available in comparison to the PS3 you're getting a pretty decent service for that subscription too. Well, as long as some child doesn't bother to DDOS Sony or something...

I reserved it yesterday. Have to go in before end of tomorrow to buy it.

Happened me before and I got charged the error price.

I think the new price is an error because 469 for a ps4 is a robbery

you will absolutely get it for 401. I guarantee it.

they have the bundle for 439, so it doesn't make any sense for them to 469 + 25 for the game if you buy them separately.

I read it late last night and it indeed said 23/08/2014 along with "This item has previously been on sale at €389.99"

Got my PS4 and last of Us for €400.98 in Galway today (had the money away was waiting for a suitable bargain to pounce on). Tried to charge me over at the till, but I showed them the Booking email on my phone and a manager was called over and (Fair play to them) honored the difference no fuss.

Fupping PSN is down today though my luck!

(having read a few other threads argos seem to be very good with honoring the deal when there's a mis-price)

Yeah, so long as the original deal wasn't a misprint (and even sometimes if it is) they will always honor the reservation price. They are good like that.

Argos are up there with amazon for customer support in my experience.

Price of the console is back down to €399, not quite the €375 it was before. But you can get a free copy of watchdogs with it.or last of us and other great games likr assassins creed for €26.

I would disagree, especially after last year's reservation for Last of Us on a release day, just to go to the store and hear "we don't have your game and what'ya gonna do to us?". and when I was ordering it online, they were showing 5 still available to pick up. I was told to come back "in few days".

I'm trying to get both offers but can't, are you restricted to either the free copy of watchdogs or a game for 26?

You can choose 1 special offer- offer 1 is the free copy of Watchdogs- offer 3 is the last of us for 26.99- you can only ever add one special offer to the basket when buying stuff in Argos.

thanks, that's a bit **** though, surely I should be allowed get the free copy of watchdogs and then pay extra for last of us, don't see how they are losing out.

In fairness all the shops do set deals where you get different games with the console and the price changes depending on the deal, Argos are doing exactly what Gamestop, Smyths and the rest do.

Anyway they would lose money by doing what you suggest, these deals are normally set so that they make a certain amount of profit, by giving you the free game and a discount on another they would certainly lose that.
