On Demand Failed Recordings

I couldn't find anything on boards.ie or Sky Forum to actually FIX this problem so apologies if it's come up before and I missed it. Just got an upgrade Sky HD box DRX890 W with the latest software. Have wireless connected (wireless via the box and modem) OK. Tried downloading some programmes - Sky News piece, Nickelodeon, download complete but when I went to download from National Geo and a couple of other stations, it goes to 3% then failed with technical fault 10 and Failed in Planner. Are there some channels blocked by Sky in On Demand? Or is this box not working.

Have completed as recommended on Sky forum: Planner rebuild, reset network connection, deleted programmes from DELETED tab in Planner, switched off/on On Demand services, switched off/unplugged the box for 10 minutes, software is the latest.

Anyone have any answers? We upgraded because we had a 10 year old Sky box with software that didn't have On Demand so if we can't download all the content offered, it's pretty useless to us.

One other Q! Are Sky Catch Up services all under the banner in under ON DEMAND? There is no separate tab for CATCH UP as shown in their ads?

You do know that you cant download anything that you are not subscribed to? Would that be the problem?

Yeah, had checked what we have, all the channels I'm trying to download are in our pack, likes of Sky Arts, National Geo, Discovery, Atlantic not even HD even though we've (had to) subscribed to HD. We made no changes to our Sky pack.

Just keeps going around in a circle, available to download, downloads to a certain point, option to Resume download, says it's downloaded but failed. Just tried it with five different channels. Info says it's downloaded but it's not.

I've just tried downloading a programme from Sky News and it downloaded fine. On looking at the forums, a couple of years ago this was an issue for some but none of the "fixes" have fixed this. Someone had mentioned it's location related to IP but why am I able to download some not others?

Is it case where you have to pay Sky for Movies & Sport in order to access your full subscription channels on On Demand?? We have the Variety Pack so I would have assumed you can download the channels under the Variety Pack under OD?

You will only be able to download channels/programmes which you are subscribed to. If you dont have sports for example you will still be able to download content from Sky1 or Atlantic but not anything from the sports channels.

Sounds like a router or IP problem and I'm afraid Im not into the technical stuff but some of the other regulars here will be able to help hopefully.

Technical Fault 10 errors can occur within the planer for both Recorded and OnDemand content.

Usually the last resort for this error is a System Reset which will erase the contents of the drive. If they persist after this then it is usually a fault with the drive.

But first have you permanently deleted everything in the deleted folder and then carried out a planner rebuild?

Have you assigned a static IP to your box at your router?

Have you carried out a forced software update?

With the R009 software clicking on the Catch UpTV tile on the home screen would take you to a Catch Up tab within an OnDemand menu. There will be tabs for TV Box Sets, Sky Movies & Sky Store next to this.

With the new R010 software clicking on the Catch Up TV tile will take you to a Catch Up tab within a Catch Up TV menu. Presently there will be no other tabs beside this. This is in preparation for a new OnDemand navigation which will be enabled once everyone's been updated to R010.

Thanks Nsewell, a forced software update has fixed it. Our software was only R007 and a Catch Up tab didn't exist on that interface. In fact the entire design has changed. I had stupidly assumed the box would come with the latest software but realise these boxes must sit in storage for months so thanks for your input.

Will be very interested to see the new software update when it rolls out.

    Glad everything's working.
The majour design change happended in the R009 update earlier on in the year.
The new R010 software is more of a feature update, and started to rollout last Thursday morning for Sky+HD boxes. It'll take about 2 months to update everyone.
