Hi folks, the last week or so the window makes three or four crackling sounds when its going up. A really loud snap at the top. Its fine going down. Is the a sign somthings on the way out? Cheers.

sure sounds like the window mechanism is on the way out alright , when its fully gone you'll hear a pop sound

Cheers pal. Is that the regulator or motor? Or both??! That would be a fail on the nct i presume? Cheers.

to be honest that was a bit of a joke with your snap crackle n pop description ;) theirs really no way for me to know what is causing them noises u till I take the door card off and inspect it in operation , unless someone on here has a focus with the exact same symptoms ,as in its common fault but it really could be anything I wouldn't say the motor I'd say the rollers or something has broke inside catching the steel wire as it is rotating , but until you take the door card off who's to know.

You can purchase the window regulator separate from the motor if its found that the regulator (the mechanical component of the window system) is faulty. Water can ingress through poor rubber seals and corrode rollers/cables. Sometimes a judicail application of lubricant like a PTFE oil is enough to stop any noise, but as above...inspection is the way forward. PM for more details.
