I was just wondering if anyone is going to Athlone IT this year and if so what course are you doing? I'll be doing forensic toxicology. I just thought that I'd put a post on boards as I don't know anyone going to AIT this year and it might help me meet people :)

I am moving up to Athlone either next Sunday (7th) or Monday (8th) and im going doing Health Science with Nutrition. I am just wondering does anyone know of any gym/leisure facilities which are close to Athlone IT. Everytime I go ''googling'' it the only information I get is Athlone Regional Sports Centre which is a 43 minute walk from Athlone IT. Any Hotels nearby that offer swimming pool/gym facilities?
    Thanks.

There is a gym in the college but other than that try the Radisson or the Sheraton. The Springs is nice and there is a bus going out that side of town but it only runs 9.15 to 6.15 on the hour. There is no where nearer than those ones.

Alright thanks a million anyways! (Y) never knew there was a gym in the college!

Ya its pretty decent. Been years since I was there though. Few treadmills, steppers, lots of different types of weights. There is a new indoor running track too and a whole load of new things in there for it. If you wanted a swim the regional would be your best bet really but there is probably enough in the gym to keep you happy.

can students use the gym in the college?

Yes of course students can use it. The good news is that soon there will be a massive state of the art gym on campus about 4 times as big as the present one :o:o:o
