Best shoes for walking, waterproof,...

Hi,
I have tried ecco shoes and similar and always found them rigid and heavy. I am always happy buying either north face/meindl/columbia type light hiking shoes but i only ever use them for walking in the town and everyday use.

I find it very hard to come by info for this type of shoe that deals with it regular city use? Even find it hard to see a decent selection in a shop. Anyway know of any good shops either in Dublin / Galway?
Or good brands, types for what im looking for?

You could try the usual outdoor shops. Dublin has Basecamp, Snow & Rock, the Outdoor Adventure Store, 53 Degrees North, The Great Outdoors, and probably a few more that I've missed.

I have no idea about Galway.

Maybe a pair of trail running shoes would suit you. I don't know how waterproof they tend to be.
